This is the preliminary (or launch) version of the 2024-2025 VCU Bulletin. Courses that expose students to cutting-edge content and transformative learning may be added and notification of additional program approvals may be received prior to finalization. General education program content is also subject to change. The final edition and full PDF version will include these updates and will be available in August prior to the beginning of the fall semester.

Virginia Commonwealth University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral degrees.

Education (all degrees)

In addition to institutional accreditation, initial and advanced licensure programs maintain professional accreditation and/or approval. Initial and advanced licensure degree programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation and approved by the Virginia State Board of Education.

Counselor education

Accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs

This accreditation applies to both the K-12 school counseling concentration and the college counseling and student affairs concentration.
