Courses that expose students to cutting-edge content and transformative learning may be added and notification of additional program approvals may be received prior to finalization. General education program content is also subject to change. The Department of Epidemiology provides outstanding epidemiology and public health training, conducts innovative research and engages in impactful service. Close ties to the Virginia Department of Health allow opportunities for students to immerse themselves in experiential learning with these public health partners. The doctoral training program in epidemiology cultivates public health scientists equipped to use state-of-the-art research methods for the purpose of advancing fundamental knowledge of issues central to the improvement of population health.
