English options: WRLD 203 section on Transnational Migration and ITAL 230 count towards the minor.

Students can complete the minor in 5 semesters.

Courses taught in English must focus on subjects related to Italy or Italian culture.

Students should be aware that the English option for the Italian minor may encompass the following: courses completed in a study abroad program that focus on Italian culture or language, any VCU course with Italian content, a capstone project involving Italian content, independent study, or an Italian internship through the Sant’Anna Institute in Sorrento or other VCU study abroad programs.

Note: Language placement test results cannot substitute for completion of course work. Italian studies minors must take at least two upper-level courses at VCU in Italian.

Students seeking credit for an English course with Italian content must demonstrate to advising and/or the program coordinator that the course includes a substantial Italian component. This can be verified by submitting syllabi, projects, and other relevant materials to support the request.
